Western Union and Al Ameen Exchange have entered into a strategic cooperation to offer the Western Union® Money Transfer service through the Al Ameen Exchange branch network in Iraq.

The service will be available at the five locations of Al Ameen Exchange in the cities of Baghdad, Mosul, Al Hella, Al Najaf, Karablaa and Basra. This agreement expands Western Union’s network in Iraq to over 80 locations.

Al Ameen Exchange was established in Babel in 2006 and has established itself as a trusted money exchange service provider. Serving the expatriate community working and residing in Iraq as well as Iraqi nationals, Al Ameen Exchange is increasing its presence across the country and will expand to a total of ten locations by the end of the year.

Abdul Kareem A. Al Abassi, General Manager of Al Ameen Exchange, said: “Western Union is one of the most recognizable and trusted names in the money transfer industry, and we are very happy to cooperate as an Agent. Iraq is a country that is in the process of rebuilding, and a trusted name like Western Union is very re-assuring for the thousands of expatriate workers living and working in the country.”

Jean-Claude Farah, Western Union Regional Vice President for Middle East, Pakistan and Afghanistan said: “Iraq forms a big part of Western Union’s future plans in the Middle East, and we are happy to begin this new relationship with a trusted name like Al Ameen Exchange.”
