Merck KGaA has declined to comment on a report in Hindustan Times that it will auction its generic drugs business in March.

A Merck spokesman added that the company has not yet ‘finally mandated’ a bank to advise it on the sale, contrary to the Hindustan Times report that Bear Stearns is set to invite non-binding bids in the first week of the month
